Regardless of ideology, or opinions on the legality or morality of those running Megaupload, actions such as the closure of this service cause huge damage to lawful users of the sites and are unacceptable and disproportionate violations of their rights.

Drugs in nightclubs
City Police to crackdown on drugs in nightclubs

The Jakarta Police says it will carry out drug raids in the city's nightclubs, following its findings that the driver of Sunday's fatal car crash had been under the influence of crystal methamphetamine.
"We will hold raids again to suppress the spread of drugs in discotheques and nightclubs, as well as other places that serve as hot spots for drug distribution," police drugs director Sr. Comr. Nugroho Aji said on Tuesday as quoted by tribunnews.com.
He said that officers would monitor nightclubs to identify and arrest any drug dealers.
The police, he added, would team up with the city administration in carrying out the operation.
"We will coordinate with the Tourism and Culture Agency, but will keep things on the legal track," he said.
A black car driven by Apriyani Susanti, a 28-year-old staff member of a production house in Jakarta, plowed into 12 pedestrians in Gambir, Central Jakarta, on Sunday, claiming the lives of 9 people and critically injuring three others.
On Monday, the police found that Apriyani, along with her three passengers, had taken crystal meth, locally known as sabu, just before the incident took place. (awd/mtq)
